What I Collect

Analytics

I use multiple analytics tools to understand how the site is used:

• Google Analytics: collects anonymized visit data (pageviews, traffic sources, device types, approximate location). Google may set cookies to identify returning visitors. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics: collects page performance and traffic data without cookies or individual user tracking.
• Server-side visit tracking: Cloudflare Workers records aggregate data including page views, referrer domains, and visitor countries. Visitors are identified by an irreversible hash of IP and browser information — raw IP addresses are not stored.

I also use lightweight, self-hosted event tracking to record anonymous interactions (reading depth, shares, outbound clicks) for improving content and experience. This data is not linked to any personal identity.

Email Subscription

If you subscribe to the newsletter, I collect your email address through Buttondown. Your address is used solely for sending briefings and is not shared with third parties. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

Cookies

This site uses only the following cookies:

• Language preference (lang): remembers your language choice (Chinese/English), expires after 1 year, purely functional
• Google Analytics cookies: set by Google for visit analytics
